Where have I been? Why haven't I been blogging?

Hello everyone!
I feel like it's been forever since I sat down to write a blog post.
Apart from looking after Shadow a lot has been going on around here.

The sea came over the wall and destroyed bits and bobs, like paving, bins and such.
We also had a lot of rain, which is far from normal in the Canary Islands

Also, the house is having a little facelift.
Plus the puppy, I haven't been full of beans.

Meet Shadow

My brother found him up for adoption on a second hand website, last Sunday.
By Monday he was ours.

He's a mix between a cocker spaniel and either a Labrador or a retriever. we're not sure.
My cousin wanted to call him Gandalf.

He's about 2 months old at most and he follows me around everywhere, like a shadow.

I know it's not an excuse for not being able to post in so long.

DO NOT FEAR there will be more posts coming soon.

Children's Society's Blogger Bake-Off Challenge : Chocolate chip cookies

Hello everyone!
This is my first baking post for the Children's Society's Blogger Bake-Off Challenge.
October is supposed to be Halloween baking themed but I felt like making chocolate chip cookies yesterday so I thought I'd share the recipe and show you how I made them.

P.S I promise I will bake Halloween themed things at some point.

If you like this recipe please go to my Just Giving page and donate.

:)

What you will need:

I ended up using 2 eggs

-Mixing bowl
-Fork
-Baking tray
-Cooling rack

1.Throw in the butter and flour. Rub it with your fingers until it looks like breadcrumbs.

2.Add the chocolate chips and sugar. Mix them up using your hands. You could also add 1/2 a teaspoon of mixed spice if you wanted to

Remember, rub it until it looks like breadcrumbs

3.Beat the egg in a separate bowl. Then add the beaten egg to the bowl

4.Mix it together with a fork.
5.Stick your hand in and squeeze. Collect up all the bits in the bowl and squeeze them together into a ball.
6.Grease the tray. Spread some butter over the tray.

Set oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas mark 6

7.Form Biscuit like shapes. Make about 8-12 heaps. Then put them in the oven.

8.Bake them. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes, leave them to cool on a rack.

If you fancy doing this recipe you're welcome to do it at home it's so easy and super yummy!
Don't forget to take a look at my Just Giving Page and share.

Should I update my CV?

Obviously, yes I should.
But I'm referring to whether or not to put blogger/ You-tuber on my CV.
I mean, I live on a very small island, hardly anyone knows that this can be an actual job here they mostly get bar jobs or work as receptionists.

I'm not earning big time from it either but I enjoy writing blog posts and doing YouTube videos, and it would be really really cool to be able to work at this full time one day.

How many of you list this on your CV?
Do you think it helps companies employ you?
Is it hard explaining it if someone doesn't understand what being a blogger/You-tuber is?
How many job offers have you received because you put it on your CV?

Thanks guys

Insta Natural Argan Oil Review

Its been over a week and I can already see the difference and that these products actually do work!
I highly recommend them to anyone that wants longer hair.

Honestly, when I first saw the products I was a bit sceptical, because, how many products are there now a days that claim hair growth?
I was really surprised to see these actually work, I'm impressed by them and recommend you give them a go if you want to grow your hair out.

I took the first photo after dying my hair before using the product so you'd be able to see the  difference it makes in just over a week.
It's a bit blurry but I think it's pretty obvious it works isn't it?

Overall, I'm genuinely surprised that this actually works and I'm so happy!

Meet Margaret

Hello everyone

Today's post is going to be very different from my usual rants.
I want to talk about my grandma, it is inspired by Sprinkle of glitter's video

We've had a lot of troubles with our family for many years, I won't go into detail but I just wanted to introduce you to the one family member I really looked up to.
I don't know exactly why I looked up to her,but oh well.

She was Miss Scotland around 1956 (although my Google search turned up empty) and a tap dancer. She would dress up and put make up on just to run to the shops, she was really funny and liked to make an effort with everything.

My dad moved her out to our island so we could take care of her and have her close. She hated him for that, she lived in Tenerife for so long and absolutely adored it..along with all her cats.

Yes,my grandma was a crazy cat lady and she hated if my brother or I called her grandma because she said it made her sound old.
She refused to grow old.

Anyway, our house has stairs and we didn't think it was a good idea making an old lady go up and down stairs all day.
We managed to get her an apartment right next to our house, without stairs.
It was ideal because it meant we could check up on her and give her the privacy she wanted when she wanted it.

We also did her shopping for her,to save her the trouble of walking all the way to the shops and back.
She loved her alcohol though,to a point where we would buy her a bottle of wine and it would only last her a day.
On a day that I was doing the shopping, I completely forgot to get her her wine.
She said it was fine, she'd just pop round the corner and grab something to drink.

I did think about going with her but I figured she wouldn't want me looking over her shoulder or annoying her.
In the end I thought she's an adult, I should give her some space.Let her have some fun.
Boy was I wrong, I still blame myself for this...

She fell down a tiny tiny step, my dad had asked me where she was and walked into the bar to find his mum on the floor in pain and a waiter bringing her a bottle of champagne.

Called an ambulance, rushed her to the hospital, she'd broken her hip.
They operated on her and told us she needed to rest.

Doctors didn't tell us until the end but it was very obvious she had altzeimers, she'd ask about her parents, wanted to get up and clean.
My dad would get frustrated with her because he thought she was just messing around, he would try and remind her that her parents were long gone, that she'd had an operation and wasn't allowed to get up and do things.
He bought her a zimerframe because we thought she was on the road to recovery, she still wasn't eating and she was very weak but she was able to move around.
She fell and opened her stitches.
Back at the hospital again, we were all so worn out my dad decided to put her in a home where she would get proper care.
So we arranged that to be done.

She still didn't eat,she had another accident while she was in the care home, and ended back in hospital.

Because she wouldn't eat she got very sick, she had to be fed through a tube and once again strapped to the bed.
She was very scared, obviously, she had been strapped down by strangers onto a bed and they were feeding her through a tube.

We visited her in the hospital everyday and everyday she hated us for putting her there, she thought I was some sort of social worker sometimes, other times she didn't recognise us at all.

She passed away, the call was in Spanish, because we live in Spain the hospital staff don't really try that hard to learn another language.

The hospital called my dad, he handed me the phone and started gathering his things because he was expecting them to release her,her health was getting better and we were ready to move her back into a home.

''Sorry to say this but your grandma passed away today,we need you to come to the hospital with her passport and all her ID papers''

She died thinking I was a social worker.

I've set up a Just giving page for her and all alzeimers patients and I'm taking part in the Children's Society's Blogger Bake-Off Challenge to raise money for the charity.

I'll be doing baking blog posts up until December, you can donate if you want.

I don't expect to raise any money I just wanted to tell you about my grandma and how great she was.

My sweater/jumper/hoody collection

Autumn is here! Do you know what that means?
I get to hide away in all my fave sweaters/jumpers/hoodies
My collection is compiled by clothes from....

These two items are very light wear, I usually wear these on cool evenings where it's not cold enough but it's not really hot enough to go around in a top.

I bought this blazer when I got accepted into an administration course years ago, little did I know I'd be quitting three months later....I've never worn it
I bought this when I dumped my ex and thought it was funny

The zebra one is an enormous oversized jumper and it's so so cosy

I'm not sure where these ones came from and I hardly wear them. If you recognise them or think they might be from somewhere do tell!

This was something my grandma gave to me a couple of months before she started to forget who I was.

It's so cute!

This was given to me as a birthday present years ago. I love the pink panther on the pocket area.

This jumper doesn't belong to any brand because it's one that the local volleyball players have, I've never played volleyball

This is my go to jacket I absolutely love it

I actually bought this from the men section of the shop because it's nice and thick

I bought this on sale on a very cold day that I'd forgotten to bring a jumper with me and yes it is very worn.

My ex bought me this one and it is one of my favourite ones to wear.

There you have it, my obsession with jumpers and sweaters and all things cosy, which one is your favourite one?
